Sevco have accepted an offer from Northampton Town for Matt Crooks.

According to a report in The Sun the Cobblers have outbid Scunthorpe for the former Accrington starlet who will have talks with the League One giants over the weekend over a six figure transfer fee.

Twelve months ago the midfielder was one of the hottest tickets in the game with Mark Warburton snapping him up despite interest from Arsenal, Real Madrid and Port Vale.

Injury restricted Crooks to just two SPFL appearances but he looked more like his old self during 12 appearances on loan at Scunthorpe.

That form prompted Scunthorpe into making a bid to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis but their offer has fallen short of the bid from Northampton.

Pedro Caixinha stated that he wanted to get rid of 14 players that he inherited from Warbo with Crooks set to be the sixth player to move on.

Since getting knocked out of the Europa League by Progres Niederkorn Caixinha hasn’t said a word in public.
