Rotherham boss Paul Warne has moved quickly to reassure fans that he isn’t interested in signing Josh Windass.

The prospect of the former Accrington ace moving to League One was floated in midweek as Pedro Caixinha attempts to get rid of the best squad in Scotland.

Rotherham are hoping to bounce back from last season’s dismissal relegation from the Championship but have no plans to bring in Windass.

Rob Staton of BBC Radio Sheffield tweeted: “Paul Warne says Rotherham not trying to sign Rangers’ Josh Windass despite recent reports #RUFC.”

At the end of last season Caixinha constructed a list of players that he was looking to move on and what their value was in the transfer market.

Clint Hill and Pip Senderos were released at the end of their contract with Andy Halliday, Joe Garner, Matt Crooks and Barrie McKay moving on.

Windass is under contract until 2020 and unlikely to move on during the transfer window.

Martyn Waghorn, Kenny Miller and Rob Kiernan have got 12 months left on their contracts but the remainder of the squad are contracted until 2019 and 2020.
