Sevco fans turned their back on Pedro Caixinha with just 22,107 attending the glamour friendly with Marseilles.

With the top ticket price costing just £15 there will be little left over for Pedro Caixinha’s transfer war-chest once VAT, Marseilles fee and other costs are deducted.

Less than a month ago Dave King announced his victory over Mike Ashley with fans rushing to empty the shelves at Sports Direct as well as snapping up season tickets. Today they stayed away from Ibrox despite having the opportunity to pour money into the company.

Bruno Alves made his debut but was replaced after 57 minutes while another debutant, Graham Dorrans was booked after six minutes by referee Craig Thomson.

Caixinha has been the subject of ferocious criticism from fans since the Europa League defeat by Progres Niederkorn.

After the match it appears that the fifth best coach in Qatar only spoke to the in-house television station.

Niko Kranjcar scored the equaliser for Sevco late in the second half after being preferred to Carlos Pena in the starting XI which included five of the players that Caixinha inherited when he joined the club.

Jordan Rossiter missed the match but is expected to resume full training in 7-10 days after recovering from a light knock completely unrelated to all of the injuries he suffered from last season.
