Kundai Benyu made a scoring debut as a Celtic XI won 3-1 against East Kilbride.

The former Ipswich kid was joined by Calvin Miller and Jack Aitchison as they returned from first team duty in Austria and the Czech Republic.

Tommy McIntyre had a squad comprising of last season’s Development League side and the u-17 Glasgow Cup winners to take on the Lowland League outfit.

It was almost constant pressure from Celtic in the first half but Billy Stark’s side were well organised in defence keeping chances to a minimum.

Regan Hendry looked the most likely to break the deadlock but the home keeper was well protected.

Four minutes into the second half Mark Hill took a more direct approach when he drilled in the opening goal from 25 yards out.

Two minutes later Benyu doubled the lead when he controlled the ball well 20 yards from goal and netted with a low shot.

Sam Wardrop was the only player from the starting XI to remain on the park as McIntyre made ten changes with Kieran Gibbons curling an impressive shot past Ryan Mullen as the new side was settling in.

Fifteen minutes from the final whistle Tom Caffrey waltzed away from a few defenders to drill home Celtic’s third and kill off the home side’s hope of getting a draw.

CELTIC: Doohan (Mullan 63); Wardrop (Deas 70), Deas (Potter 63), Duffy (McInroy) Miller (Bell 63); Hendry (Campbell 63), Hill (Henderson 63), Thomson (Crossan 63), Nesbitt (Watson 63); Benyu (Caffrey 63), Aitchison (Diver 63)
