Former Celt Stuart Findlay has joined Kilmarnock on loan from Newcastle.

The defender has signed a four month deal that almost certainly ends any prospect of Kristoffer Ajer going back to the Ayrshire side.

Findlay spent the 2015/16 season on loan to Kilmarnock from Celtic before being released and joining Newcastle where he spent last season with Peter Beardsley’s u-23 side and made one top team appearance in the FA Cup.

Ajer spent the second part of last season on loan at Kilmarnock with Lee McCulloch saying last week that he had been the best player at the club during that period.

Since returning to Celtic the young Norwegian has found himself part of the first team squad and is likely to be involved with the top team as they embark on a heavy schedule of games in the first part of the season.

Findlay’s former Celtic team-mate Calum Waters with Daniel Higgins and Stephen O’Donnell also part of the first team squad.
