Nir Bitton has recovered from injury and should be fit to start Tuesday’s Champions League Play-Off against Astana.

The Israeli needed treatment for a knee injury in the closing stages of the 2-0 win away to Kilmarnock.

With Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko already out injured the hoops defence has become a source of concern with Bitton stepping back to partner Jozo Simunovic.

Bitton was on the flight to Israel this afternoon as the hoops look to book their place in the group stage of the Champions League.

I think he’s okay,” Rodgers told the Daily Record. “He’s won a great header, but just landed awkwardly and it looked like his achilles or the bottom of his foot.

He just felt it jarred a bit, but he has ice on it and he thinks it’s fine.”

Celtic had no fresh injuries to report from Rugby Park where Rodgers made six changes to the side that won the first leg tie against Astana.

Rodgers is likely to go with his first choice team to finish the job on Astana despite the impressive form of the deputies who played at Kilmarnock.

The draw for the group stage will take place on Thursday with the Celtic boss still waiting to find out when Sviatchenko, Boyata, Moussa Dembele, Jonny Hayes and Eboue Kouassi will be back in action.
