BT Sport have recruited Ally McCoist for expert analysis of the new season!

The former Question of Sport funny-man will join Chris Sutton, Michael Stewart and Stephen Craigan to share his views on the burning issues in the game.

McCoist has failed to find a job in football since ending his Sevco gardening leave in December 2015 after ‘resigning’ a year earlier as they toiled behind Hearts in the Championship.

His resignation restored his salary to the £800,000 level that he was on when he TUPEd over from Rangers (IL) in 2012.

As a manager McCoist never won a single trophy with Sevco suffering embarrassing cup defeats to Forfar, Queen of the South, Falkirk, Queen of the South and Alloa.

Most famously in charge of Rangers (IL) he led the team to defeats from Malmo and Maribor then paved the way for administration while also throwing away a 15 point lead to Celtic in less than two months.

Since resigning from the managers job at Ibrox McCoist has been to one home match but retains a significant shareholding in the company having snapped up shares at 1p alongside Mike Ashley and Charles Green.

Last year McCoist voted with Ashley against an AGM resolution that would have diluted the value of his shareholding.

After being blamed for the failure of that resolution by the dark arts team inside Ibrox McCoist may be more off message than the usual Ibrox apologists.
