Neil Doncaster will meet a delegation from the Celtic Supporters Association tonight to explain why the SPFL are taking no action on over a decade of cheating.

In July the Supreme Court in London confirmed that Rangers (IL) had used side contracts rather than EBTs to pay and reward players.

Under SPL and SPFL rules all payments made to players relating to their employment has to be declared to the SPFL/SPL and SFA otherwise the player is ineligible.

Despite Dundee United, Livingston and Dunfermline having points deducted and 3-0 defeats awarded against matches with ineligible players the SPFL have refused to take the same action against the club from Ibrox.

Announcing the meeting Joe O’Rourke of the Celtic Supporters Association stated: “I am meeting tonight with Neil Doncaster and Rod McKenzie, I will be seeking explanations and clarification of everything that has happened with regards to the Lord Nimmo Smith inquiry, I have a feeling about what excuses will be put forward, but I’ll wait to hear them for myself from the two men.

“As I’ve said before, we won’t be going away without the proper result. Honesty and integrity must win or the game in Scotland is finished. I don’t really care what deals were done to try to prop up the game in Scotland, if cheating is allowed to conquer then the decent supporters need to take control of our game from those who are allowing the cheating. “

As well as failing to apply the rules equally to all members no one at the SPL/SPFL has ever explained why the Nimmo Smith Enquiry only reported on contracts from November 2000 when the remit was to go back to July 1998 when the SPL was formed.

In August 2000 Ronald de Boer signed with a side contract Discount Option Scheme with Tore Andre Flo doing the same in November. Rangers (IL) later admitted their guilt with those schemes and owed HMRC £2.8M when they went into liquidation.
