Celtic have been linked with a move for Valentin Stocker.

According to a report in Berliner Kurier the Hertha Berlin striker is wanted by the hoops and FC Basel.

Both clubs can offer Champions League football with Stocker looking for the chance to play his way into Switzerland’s World Cup plans.

The 28 year old is valued at 4m euros but it’s unlikely that Celtic would be spending at that sort of level for effectively a third choice striker with a loan move more likely.

Repeated injury worries over Leigh Griffiths and Moussa Dembele has forced Brendan Rodgers into a rethink over his striker requirements.

Stocker joined Hertha from Basel in 2013 and has been in and out of their team, scoring four times in 14 appearances last season.

Rodgers will be assessing a number of options over the next couple of days as he attempts to bring in a striker and central defender with a fortnight and one match- away to Hamilton- before facing Paris St Germain in the Champions League.
