Clock ticking down on Caixinha

Even someone as deluded as Pedro Caixinha must be getting the message.

In-between his PR instructions and promptings about who the people are and who has the best squad in the country some cold hard realities are starting to dawn.

If Sevco lose at Ross County on Sunday the fifth best coach in Qatar would be as well avoiding the coach journey back down the A9.

Yesterday Keith Jackson of the Daily Record suggested that Caixinha had to win the next three SPFL matches to keep his job- a run that he has still to achieve since climbing the blue staircase of unsurpassed indignity.

Today as he flicks through the Evening Times he’ll be getting a broadly similar message from Christopher Jack.

The talking time is over for Brother Pedro. Green boots and other sideshows are off the menu. It’s win or bust now.

His sophisticated European accent and psychobabble has shifted the season tickets but in August it’s time to stop being a laughing stock or else.

Jack warns: “Caixinha has never won three games in succession as Rangers manager but he needs four-in-a-row before he meets a familiar foe at Ibrox.

The panic button won’t be pushed at present. Caixinha can’t afford to give the Ibrox board many more reasons to have their finger hovering over it, though.”

Between the lines the warnings are crystal clear.

With Alex McLeish and Barry Ferguson hovering one more slip and Caixinha will join McCoist, McCall and Warburton in the history books.
