Willie Collum will referee the top of the table clash between Celtic and St Johnstone on Saturday.
It’s the first time this season that Celtic have had the man regarded as Scotland’s top referee with Frank Connor one of his assistants. Connor was on the line at Hampden in 2015 when Josh Meekings punched away a goal bound header from Leigh Griffiths.
Any thoughts that John Beaton may be demoted after sending off Ryan Jack in the Sevco v Hibs match can be dismissed with the Lanarkshire referee taking charge of Saturday’s Motherwell v Hearts clash at Fir Park.
Sunday’s match between Ross County and Sevco will be refereed by Craig Thomson in front of the BT Sport cameras.
Before all that action gets underway Celtic face Astana this afternoon in the Champions League Play Off with the familiar face of Pavel Královec in charge.
The Czech referee has been in charge of Celtic’s recent Play Off matches away to Shakhtar Karagandy and Maribor.
