Stan Collymore is delighted to see Celtic reach the group phase of the Champions League on ‘buttons’.
The former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker watched in awe as the football on the park from Brendan Rodgers’ side matched the raw passion and energy coming from the fans.
After a nervy 1-0 win over Partick Thistle five nights earlier the hoops turned on the style with a squad that costs less than half the price of a first choice right-back at Manchester City.
If one or two daarn saarf went to Parkhead on a CL night, understood the EC/CL history of Celtic, they’d realise how they compete on buttons!

Like Premier League West Ham (income £100+m?) losing over TWO LEGS to mighty Astra Giurgiu?
In the Europa League FIRST PLAYOFF ROUND? https://t.co/Bz2fDiySIi

Any team in any league that gets group stage football on £2m league win is equal to a club raking in £200m a year getting to CL Final. https://t.co/PIVDxyXW6m

Imagine any English club earning £2m a year to win the league and compete like the Hoops have.
Most can’t with £300m! ?? https://t.co/2UO3P2IpYa

With football and footballers disappearing out of reality for most English football fans seeing locally produced players like Kieran Tierney, James Forrest and Leigh Griffiths on the biggest stage will come as a breath of fresh air.
Substitutes Callum McGregor and Stuart Armstrong added another local dimension to the action while fans down south would wonder how Olivier Ntcham and Scott Sinclair slipped through the net.
It looks like there will be five English clubs in the draw for te group stage increasing the chances of another Scotland v England battle to rival last season’s clashes between Celtic and Manchester City.
