Jon Daly is expected to take charge of Hearts for the visit to Celtic on Saturday.

The former Sevco strike ace has been in charge of the Tynecastle Development League side but will be on the end of Craig Levein’s instructions until a new head coach is appointed.

Daly made his name as a slow lumbering centre forward at Dundee United before accepting a massive pay day to join Sevco in 2013 where he starred in the League One title success.

The step up in class to The Championship proved too much for the Dubliner who retired at the end of that season and moved in to coaching.

Cathro’s departure has left Hearts’ preparations for the new season in tatters and put the spotlight on Craig Levein.

While there are a number of former players that look capable of doing the job working under the former Scotland manager is a major obstacle.

During Cathro’s reign Daly was dispatched from the Directors Box to the dug out to pass on instructions from Levein with that relationship set to be formalised on Saturday.
