Peter Lawwell is looking to add two more players to the Celtic squad before the transfer window closes.

On Monday night the Celtic chief was at the Etihad Stadium to watch Manchester City play Everton with reports claiming that the deal for Patrick Roberts is progressing.

So far Celtic have signed Jonny Hayes and Olivier Ntcham during the transfer window with no players sold.

Yesterday’s Champions League draw pitted Celtic up against two of the richest clubs in the game with the hoops having to live within a much more modest budget to compete at the highest level.

Speaking on Radio Scotland’s Sportsound programme last night Lawwell said: “With regard to this window we’ve had our targets, there’s maybe another couple that we’d like to bring in.

We’ve had them for a while, I don’t think it’ll necessarly change that ( the Champions League draw) but hopefully we can get these other two over the line.”

Brendan Rodgers has hinted at bringing in both a striker and a central defender due to the injury problems in those positions during the Champions League qualifying phase.

Talks to sign Roberts from Manchester City have been taking place since the end of last season with the player keen to return to the club that he helped win the treble.
