Patrick Roberts experienced the lonliness of international week as he returned to Lennoxtown today- with even Celtic’s twitter account taking a friendly dig.

First team players are thin on the ground in international week with only Callum McGregor, Liam Henderson, Scott Sinclair and Dorus de Vries for company with Jozo Simunovic and Moussa Dembele being treated for injuries.

Scotland have called on Craig Gordon, Kieran Tierney, Scott Brown, James Forrest, Stuart Armstrong and Leigh Griffiths while the u-21’s will call on Calvin Miller and Anthony Ralston.

In defence Mikael Lustig is with Sweden, Nir Bitton in Israel with Kristoffer Ajer with the Norway u-21 squad.

Tom Rogic is racking up the air miles with Australia while Jonny Hayes is in Dublin with Martin O’Neill’s Ireland squad.

Roberts will be able to get fully upto speed this week before being rejoined by his old team-mates from Tuesday to prepare for Celtic’s SPFL match away to Hamilton Accies on September 8.
