Brendan Rodgers has made eight changes to the side that beat Hearts for tonight’s League Cup tie with Kilmarnock.

Craig Gordon, Kieran Tierney and Leigh Griffiths are the only survivors from Saturday as the hoops manager fresens up his side with an eye on the Champions League play off against Astana.

Calvin Miller, Anthony Ralston and Kristoffer Ajer come into the defence alongside Tierney with the bench looking strong with James Gorrest, Mikael Lustig and Callum McGregor among the subs.

Celtic have won the League Cup twice in the last three years with the new format only requiring four matches to lift the trophy.

At this stage a year ago the hoops beat Motherwell 5-0 but found Alloa tougher opponents in the quarter finals and required two late goals to reach the last four.

Sevco put up dogged resistance at Hampden but a glorious late goal from Moussa Dembele put the hoops into the final where Aberdeen were turned over 3-0 to clinch the first leg of the treble.

Scott Sinclair and Kieran Tierney missed the final through injury where goals from James Forrest, Tom Rogic and Dembele delivered the trophy.
