Celtic look certain to be in Pot 4 when the draw is made for the group stage of the Champions League on Thursday.
After the hoops dramatic 8-4 aggregate win over Astana attention turned elsewhere for the evening kick off’s in the Champions League.
Any one of three upsets would have lifted Celtic from Pot 4 into Pot 3 but the seeded sides all came through as Sevilla, Napoli and Olympiakos all came through.
The last chance of promotion into Pot 3 comes at Anfield tomorrow when Hoffenheim are hoping to overcome a 2-1 defeat in the home leg to KO Liverpool.
Pot 4 means that there is a very strong possibility of Celtic facing English opposition with Manchester United and Manchester City in Pot 2, Liverpool and Spurs in Pot 3 and Chelsea in Pot 1.
With clubs from the same nation unable to be drawn in the same group the chances of a ‘Battle of Britain’ increase when the draw is made on Thursday starting at 4.30pm Celtic Park Time
