Kolo Toure appears to have ended his playing career by taking up a coaching role with the Ivory Coast.

The defender made 17 appearances for Celtic last season after being drafted in by Brendan Rodgers.

Toure had a massive impact throughout the club but wanted to continue playing with the hoops only able to offer a coaching role.

Now the AIPSAFRICA website has announced that he has taken up a coaching role with the Ivory Coast Olympic and A international squads with the A squad consisting of local players only.

Toure’s new job should be good news for Eboue Kouassi who was full of praise for his experienced team-mate when he joined Celtic in January.

Celtic paid Russian side Krasnodar £2.5m for the teenager in January but the midfielder has still to play his way into Brendan Rodgers first team plans and picked up a knee injury in the first half of Celtic’s 5-0 win over Kilmarnock.
