Celtic appear to have signed one of South Africa’s best ever prospects in Rivaldo Coetzee.
The 20-year-old has played international football since u-17 level and has now picked up 22 full caps.
While the South African national side have failed to take off Ajax are among a number of major European sides to have connections with clubs in the nation as they attempt to uncover the next emerging talent.
Coetzee has been a regular in the Ajax Cape Town side for the last three seasons giving him the sort of experience rarely found in defenders of his age.
Although Brendan Rodgers hasn’t highlighted central defence as an area needing improvement the Celtic boss is looking to bring in the best young talent available as he demonstrated in January when Eboue Kouassi was signed from Russian side Krasnodar.
Coetzee will be in Glasgow later this week to complete his signing and apply for a work permit which should be a formality due to his international appearances.
