Tony Watt was delighted to see James Forrest keep alive Celtic’s Champions League hopes even if some hoops fans were less than pleased with the identity of their match-winner.

Watt and Forrest were best of pals during their time together under Neil Lennon with a mutual respect for each other’s game.

As home grown players they’ve both taken their share of stick down the years but the dynamic duo have played their part in some of Celtic’s most memorable recent successes.

While Watt’s career has taken in half a dozen clubs Forrest has stayed true to Celtic with varying fortunes under Lennon, Ronny Deila and now Brendan Rodgers.

With his injury problems firmly behind him Forrest managed to hold off the challenge of Patrick Roberts for most of last season and showed his versatility last night.

Starting off through the centre he switched to the right flank when Leigh Griffiths came on and settled the match in the 68th minute with a devastating strike that takes Celtic into tomorrow’s play-off draw.
