Willie Collum refuses to send off Steven McLean

Willie Collum was the centre of Celtic supporters anger after the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone today.

In the 72nd minute Steven McLean struck Kieran Tierney in an off the ball incident that was viewed by both Collum and the assistant referee on the main stand side.

Incredibly Collum decided that a yellow card was suitable punishment with the visitors holding on to take a point after Callum McGregor equalised.

Sixty seconds later Jonny Hayes was booked for a 50-50 challenge that none of the St Johnstone players seemed was worth claiming for.

Celtic had been off form during the first half with some sloppy defending presenting McLean with a goal six minutes from the break.

McGregor preserved Celtic’s 53 match unbeaten run with a goal in the 79th minute but despite striking the woodwork twice in the remainder of the match the home side were unable to force a winning goal.

With Aberdeen winning 4-3 at Partick Thistle Derek McInnes’ side are at the top of the Premiership with 12 points from four matches, two ahead of Celtic and St Johnstone.
