Neil Lennon has accused Mark Warburton and Kris Boyd of trying to unsettle John McGinn.

Before Hibs lunchtime clash with Dundee word emerged on the BBC and BT Sport that Nottingham Forest had tabled a £750,000 bid for the Scotland midfielder.

Hibs knocked back a similar offer for McGinn from Ipswich Town and are believed to be holding out for £2m despite Lennon rating the player in the £5m category.

McGinn is in the Scotland international squad and has already picked up League Cup and Scottish Cup winners medals and is the highest rated player in Scotland outside of Celtic.

Asked about a bid for the midfielder after the 1-1 draw at Dundee Lennon told The Sun: “It is laughable. We’ve kicked it into touch. The bid is well short. Three or four times short.

Mark Warburton knows the Scottish market. John is under contract for two years.

I would imagine they’ll come again. Sometimes they do it to unsettle the player. Which doesn’t please me.

Maybe Mark sees it differently but there was speculation before the game. Apparently Kris Boyd has inside information that I don’t know of. Seemingly that’s John’s last game for Hibs today.

Somebody must be telling him something I don’t know.

I tell you what I could do. I could put a bid in for Scott Brown at Celtic and get it out there in the media.

Not that it would unsettle Scotty but maybe we could do that for a laugh.

There is no doubt it can be unsettling for a player and it looked like that against Dundee and the way he played.

Lennon added: “For a player of John McGinn’s quality, you know, you’re talking in the millions.

I didn’t speak to John because I wasn’t really aware, I didn’t know it had affected him at all.

Five million? Yeah, I would value John at five million. But maybe the club can’t get that.

The club will decide when it’s been met. We’re talking hypothetically because there has been no bid anywhere near our valuation of John.”

Hibs were dominant in today’s match but were unable to turn their possession into goals although Dundee keeper Scott Bain was a deserved man-of-the-match.

Anthony Stokes played a big part in the Hibs equaliser although the final touch came off a Dundee defender as the Irishman met a driven cross to the front post.
