Hibs fans raised a banner of protest at their board after being told that Rod Petrie wanted the club to move on and forget a decade of cheating.

Petrie was heavily involved in the creation of the Five Way Agreement in 2012 and is the club official most closely associated with SFA chief Stewart Regan.

On Monday night after Regan’s round of media interviews Hibs produced a statement claiming that it was the unanimous view of the board not to investigate the workings of the SFA.

Social media was swamped by Hibs fans furious at the statement from their club with most of them pinning the blame on Petrie.

Hibs are the only club to have produced an official statement supporting the SFA despite one estimate claiming that they had lost £3.6m in prize money due to Rangers (IL) fielding ineligible players for over a decade.

In July the Supreme Court ruled that Rangers had paid their players through side contracts that were liable to income tax and national insurance and not through EBT payments.
