Alan Archibald has hit back at Pedro Caixinha’s claim that opponents put the boot into his Sevco stars.

With his own failings again being shown up the Ibrox boss turned to the victim card claiming that other teams are more aggressive against his players than they are against Celtic and Aberdeen.

Caixinha had earlier claimed that SPFL bosses were treating him as an outsider with his contempt for other managers obvious in his comments such as the claim that he has the best squad in Scotland.

Thistle had five players booked and Chris Erskine red carded in Friday night’s clash but Archibald was quick to defend his players when the Caixinha claim was put to him.

I can only talk about our own team and I don’t think so,” he told The Sun. “We are probably not aggressive enough. I really wish we were a bit more aggressive.

I don’t think there were the amount of bookings in the game that there was the other night but we treat every game the same, it’s not any different.

It maybe just seems like that, when other teams get more of the ball, there are more tackles going in. Maybe that’s something that could be looked into with stats but it’s not ‘we are playing Rangers, we are going to go and kick them’, by any manner of means.”

Caixinha takes his side back to Firhill tonight for a place in the semi final of the League Cup.

Friday’s dropped points have put the pressure firmly on the fifth best coach in Qatar with the clock ticking down towards Saturday’s visit of the champions to Ibrox.
