Caixinha explains Brown flare up

Pedro Caixinha has explained his half time flare up with Scott Brown.

In a clear attempt to curry favour with the Ibrox fans the Sevco boss squared up to Brown as the teams left the pitch at the interval.

It seems that Caixinha had seen an elbow from the Celtic skipper during the match with another similar incident dragged up from the 5-1 mauling in April.

Rather than discuss the shortcomings of his squad Caixinha saved his energy and anger for the Celtic striker.

“It’s the second time,” the fifth best coach in Qatar told STV. “The last one was in April, in exactly the same place. The same actor from one team, different actor from another.

“I saw an elbow. So I referred to the fourth official and said ‘You saw it. You’re in the same line as me and you saw it. The referee’s just in front and you let it go’.

“So when Scott Brown was coming off , I told him ‘You do that. But if I was on the pitch you’re not going to do it because I would not allow you to put your elbow in my face’.

“If someone does nothing then I do have to defend my club and defend my players. I do it to defend the truth of the game.”

As he reviews the video analysis of today’s match Caixinha can reflect on how the best squad in Scotland were taken apart by the six-in-a-row champions.

It took Tom Rogic just five minutes of the second half to put Celtic in front when he latched onto a pass from Patrick Roberts that worked it’s way through four Ibrox defenders.

Young McCrorie was also at fault for the second goal when Leigh Griffiths raced behind Scotland’s greatest defender before smashing a low shot past Wesley Foderingham to give Celtic full points.

With Celtic eight points clear of Sevco it looks like another Ibrox title challenge is over before the clocks go back.
