Alex McLeish has told Anderlecht to target Dedryck Boyata as the weak link in the Celtic side.

The former Scotland boss is currently on the look out for a new club after being snubbed by Sevco who opted in March for Pedro Caixinha to replace Mark Warburton.

Since his last job in the UK at Nottingham Forest ended in February 2013 McLeish has taken jobs abroad including a stint with Genk during the 2014/15 season.

Looking towards Wednesday’s match in Brussels Voetbal Belgie reported McLeish saying: “Anderlecht can beat Celtic, but they need to play better than what I’ve seen from them.

I see one person able to make the difference and that is Sofiane Hanni. With his creativity, he can hurt Celtic.”

“I’ve always had doubts about Boyata, but Rodgers has given him all the confidence. Celtic’s opponents usually let Boyata be free to build him up quickly.”

McLeish spent five seasons in charge of Rangers (IL) during which he collected a ‘tax free’ EBT of £1.7m.

As well as his own EBT the tax dodge allowed the club to recruit players that they wouldn’t normally be able to afford as Dave Murray told the First Tier Tribunal and the Craig Whyte trial.

In his final season at Ibrox McLeish finished the season in third place behind Celtic and Hearts despite the financial advantages of the EBT scheme which was declared illegal by the Supreme Court in July.
