“Good Morning Jim you old blue nose!” Rod Stewart replied as he was welcomed onto Jim Whyte’s TalkSPORT morning show.
The former STV presenter tries manfully to come over as impartial but it’s not too difficult to drag up where Whyte’s loyalties lie.
Almost all of the TalkSPORT presenters are happy to declare which club they support with Alan Brazil recalling his favourite Celtic memories with Eddie Gray earlier this morning.
Whyte didn’t bother replying to Stewart’s friendly welcome and quickly moved on to discussing Celtic’s Champions League clash with Paris St Germain.
“It’s just wonderful, I can’t wait to get up there,” the singer added. “I’m taking off about 4pm then get straight along to the ground for some dinner, mix with some Lisbon Lions, it’s so exciting.

“I met Jock Stein and Kenny Dalglish in 1974 and I sort of became a Celtic supporter. It’s really indescribable, it’s such a family club, it’s so deep all around the world. I’m sure that every supporter thinks that their club is the same but there’s something different about ours, a sense of family.”
Stewart will join 58,000 fans inside Celtic Park for the most watched game in the world this evening.
Despite opposition from Manchester United and Chelsea the Celtic v PSG match is expected to bring in the biggest television audience of the evening.
With Neymar and Kylian Mbappe visiting the most atmospheric ground in Europe all eyes will be on Glasgow with Stewart and other celebrities making sure of their place at the heart of the action.
