Stewart Milne has delivered another kick in the teeth to Aberdeen supporters.

Within 24 hours of the SFA refusing to ‘rake over the coals’ the Aberdeen chairman has sprung to the defence of Stewart Regan with the ‘time to move on’ mantra.

After Celtic it was Aberdeen that suffered most from a decade plus of cheating with the club lumbered with a £15m debt until last season as they tried to remain competitive in a rigged game.

While Pittodrie fans have made their opposition to the SFA and SPL/SPFL well known Milne seems to be the leading cheerleader in support of the football authorities.

Almost all clubs seem afraid to state an opinion but it seems that for whatever reason Milne is the man charged with backing up whatever opinion is being pushed out of Hampden.

In a statement given to Press Association Sport yesterday , the Aberdeen chairman said: “I have said it previously and I will say it again: there has been too much negativity in Scottish football for the last few years and it is not healthy for the game.

Both the SPFL and Scottish FA engaged top-level QCs to give advice on the situations presented to them and dealt with by them. We now must focus our collective efforts on taking Scottish football forward and stop dwelling on the past.

It is my wish that we all work together to make this happen. The current situation does nobody any favours.”

If Milne and his colleagues had dealt with the issues correctly in 2012 regarding undeclared payments to players the matter could have been resolved. The Supreme Court ruling in July gave them a second chance to apply justice, they chose not to.

While Milne attempts to deny natural justice supporters of his club won’t be moving on.

Perhaps they might start to look closely into why he is the leading supporter of the SFA and in effect defender of the cheating concocted between Ibrox and Hampden.

Like Regan Milne is about to find out that the more he denies justice the greater the appetite is to find out what they are trying to cover up.

The original actions were bad enough, unfortunately for Milne the lengths that he and others have gone to to cover things up and move on have only made things worse. Much much worse.
