James Tavernier believes that Sevco are poised to launch a title challenge!

The marauding former Newcastle star was among Mark Warburton’s first batch of signing and has taken part in six defeats from Celtic over the last 12 months.

Seven games into the new season Sevco have lost 10 points which is already two more than Celtic dropped in the whole of last season.

Should they win all of their remaining games- including two trips to Celtic Park- there is nothing that Brendan Rodgers can do to prevent the party of all parties taking place in Govan next April.

Speaking to the Daily Record Tav explained: “For us we’ve got to take the positives and work on the negatives.

We can definitely still challenge for the title. We’ve got three more games against them and we have to make the other big games count.

It’s still early in the season so we’ve got to work hard and address Hamilton on Friday night now.”

While Tavernier believes in miracles Ladbrokes have already given up on odds for Celtic making it seven-in-a-row.

In their betting without Celtic Aberdeen are priced at 10/11 with Sevco out at 13/8 to clinch second place.

After yesterday’s results Sevco dropped to fifth place in the table, if Motherwell win at home to Aberdeen today Pedro Caixinha’s side will kick off at Hamilton on Friday sitting in sixth place.
