Lee Wallace will miss Saturday’s clash with Celtic due to a groin strain.

The inspirational Sevco skipper only lasted 12 minutes of Friday’s draw against Partick Thistle before being replaced by Declan John.

Waldo has been with Sevco since the start of the journey in 2012 and played his way back into Gordon Strachan’s international squad last season.

Announcing his absence Pedro Caixinha told the club website: “Lee Wallace is out, he is travelling to Manchester today to have an assessment on his groin so let’s see how it goes.

Depending on the outcome of that we will see what we need to do. He will miss the weekend, Lee is out we just need to know for how long he needs to be out.”

Waldo missed the last two derbies of last season with Miles Beerman stepping in for two matches that he is unlikely to ever forget.

With a five point deficit to Celtic Sevco can’t afford to fall any further behind the hoops if they are to maintain a credible title challenge.

Since taking over from Mark Warburton Caixinha has failed to win three consecutive matches despite a £10m summer spending spree.
