Scott Allan’s future at Dundee could be under threat.

On Saturday the on loan Celtic midfielder was substituted before half time as Neil McCann’s side lost 4-1 to Sevco at Ibrox.

After being substituted as a substitute being replaced during the first half is one of the toughest situations for a player to deal with.

With his colourful background being replaced after 37 minutes at Ibrox is something that the 25-year-old won’t have appreciated and probably shows up Neil McCann’s inexperience in management.

Things may have been going against his side at Ibrox but if he wants to start winning matches this season McCann will need the creativity of Allan to dig his side out of a hole.

I just felt he was labouring a bit,” The Scotsman reported the Dundee bosses explanation for the substitution.

It could be said that the former Sky Sports pundit is also labouring under the spotlight.

After five matches with just one point there appears to be no improvement in the form that resulted in Paul Hartley getting the sack.

On Saturday Dundee host St Johnstone in the Premiership before facing Celtic in the League Cup.
