Chris Sutton has hit out at his Daily Record colleague Gordon Parks.

In today’s paper Parks has slaughtered Patrick Roberts for showing a lack of ambition in returning to Celtic- apparently a move to Nice or Girona would have helped his game more.

Neither of those clubs can offer Champions League football or a manager with a track record in getting the best out of players.

Having other options and experience of a club that has 30 players out on loan Roberts chose to join a club in the heart of the Daily Record’s circulation area.

Roberts experienced the effect of Brendan Rodgers first hand last season with the Irishman completely transforming the performances of almost the entire Celtic squad that he inherited.

Park is of course entitled to his opinion and to publish his views. You do wonder what his thoughts are on the career choices of Graham Dorrans, Ryan Jack, Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace who all missed out on Scotland places to the team-mates of Patrick Roberts.
