Celtic are well known for winning unique trophies with the Wembley Cup of 2009 one of the special pieces of silverware on display in the boardroom.
Tony Mowbray lasted less than a full season and is a manager that is normally glossed over when it comes to the club’s history but over a July weekend in London he left his mark.
With the Gordon Strachan reign over Mowbray came to the club with memories of an exciting Hibs team fresher than the relegation he had suffered with West Brom.
Strachan’s final season had been a painful one with a seven point lead at the new year thrown away with two goal-less draws in the final matches against Hibs and Hearts killing the title challenge stone dead.
Mowbray inherited a team that had more than a few characters with Marc Crosas, Paddy McCourt and Georgios Samaras all being far from conventional.
Following a bizarre one match trip to Australia, Celtic found themselves in London alongside Barcelona, Spurs and Egyptian side Al Ahly.
Late on the Friday afternoon Celtic kicked the event off with a 5-0 win over Al Ahly thanks to a double from Scott McDonald with Massimo Donati, Shaun Maloney and Chris Killen finding the net in their bumblebee kit.
When Spurs drew 1-1 with Barcelona it set up the Celtic v Spurs match on the Sunday as the chance to win a trophy with a highly unusual Celtic side winning 2-0 to lift the trophy.
Killen and Samaras scored the goals as Celtic beat the following Spurs side:
