Hibs stubborn stance on tickets has cost Motherwell and Sevco £40,000 each.

There were 10,000 empty seats at Hampden today for the Celtic v Hibs clash with the Edinburgh side insisting on getting a 50-50 split on tickets.

While Motherwell were ordered to sell tickets block by block from the South Stand for tomorrow’s match Hibs almost sold out their North Stand allocation ruling out the possibility of Celtic getting extra briefs.

With the gate money being split four ways hard up Sevco and Motherwell will miss out on £40,000 as will Celtic who should survive the loss a little easier.

Ticket prices averaged out at £25 would have brought in £250,000- after VAT and other deductions around £160,000 would have been split between the four clubs.

There was no comment from the SPFL in the build up to the match to suggest that there was a problem with Hibs’ ticket allocation although questions are now likely to be asked with the empty seats reflecting badly on BT Sport and sponsors Betfred.
