One thing for certain from Celtic’s visit to Munich is that the club will always be welcomed back by Bayern.
Ten thousand supporters added colour to another midweek in the spectacular German city that manages to escape the tourist spotlight that Paris, Madrid and Milan enjoys.
Bayern are without doubt the flagship of the city and although they aren’t bankrolled by oil money they have made a great contribution to European football since lifting the 1974 European Cup although some would argue the vase for 1967.

Celtic fans and players will be forever grateful for that win after a replay over the boot boys of Atletico Madrid with Bayern also providing a highlight in 1967 although their Cup Winners Cup victory has never quite been fully recognised.
There wasn’t a hint of tension or trouble around Marienplatz with no need for extra police to be on duty as Celtic fans enjoyed the sunshine, beer and camaraderie of the city.
Social media helped spread those images far and wide with Celtic acknowledged far and wide as one of the club’s with the best active supports in the game.
