There was a sense of realism to the reactions of the Celtic support to the 3-0 defeat from Bayern Munich.
Halfway through their Champions League group campaign the hoops are sitting in third place, as close to Bayern Munich as they are to Anderlecht who look on course to finish with nil points.
Celtic didn’t do themselves justice in the Allianz Arena with goals given away as cheaply as possession.
Light years behind Bayern and PSG but ahead of Anderlecht.
Our group is a metaphor for where Celtic currently sit in European club status.

3rd place in this champions league group will do. More cash and euro games into 2018. Thats progres.

It should be remembered that Stein’s team lost 3-0 away to Benfica and Ajax, and not long ago Bayern humped Arsenal 5-1 at home.

Anyone who thinks losing against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena is “embarrassing” doesn’t know much about football.

Bayern didn’t have to go close to top gear as Celtic appeared in awe of their opponents and settings.
Other than Scott Brown and Craig Gordon there weren’t many Celtic players close to their A-game with damage limitation the target once Bayern scored their third goal.
At Champions League level there is a split between the have’s and the have not’s, for now Celtic are on the outside looking in with this season’s Europa League of more interest than the big boys playground of the main event.
