Gary Hooper is becoming one of the most wanted players in England with Crystal Palace the latest club to be linked with the Sheffield Wednesday striker.

According to a report in the Croydon Advertiser Roy Hodgson is interested in signing the former Celtic striker in January as he searches for the goals to turn around Palace’s season.

With no goals and no points from seven matches Palace are enduring the worst ever start to the season of an EPL club with Hodgson drafted in after Frank de Boer was sacked.

Hooper has scored seven goals in seven matches with that form also attracting interest from shot shy West Brom and Brighton.

The Englishman was a prolific scorer during three seasons at Celtic under Neil Lennon but his game failed to kick on when he moved to Norwich City in the summer of 2013.

At the age of 29 he still has time to transfer his goals into the top flight with Sheffield Wednesday likely to be demanding a £10m fee if Hooper is to be on the move in January.
