Mikael Lustig is expected to return to training tomorrow for Sweden’s World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg on Saturday.

The Celtic defender sat out training on Tuesday and Wednesday adding to Brendan Rodgers injury woes two weeks before facing Bayern Munich.

Erik Sviatchenko and Jozo Simunovic seem certain to miss the October 18 tie in Munich leaving Lustig as the only other experienced option to play alongside Dedryck Boyata.

Speaking to Aftonbladet, Sweden’s Press Officer Niklas Bodell said: “We miss Micke today, too, he is and rehab his wits, but we expect him to work tomorrow.”

Sweden are in World Cup action on Saturday and Tuesday (away to Holland) and are currently sitting in second place, a point behind France and three ahead of the Dutch.

A Play Off spot looks the most likely outcome for the Swedes which would see Lustig involved in two more high profile matches between Matchday 4 and 5 in the Champions League.
