Bruno Alves is facing a two match suspension for kicking out at Louis Moult during Sevco’s Betfred Cup defeat from Motherwell.

Incredibly referee Steven McLean spoke to and booked Moult for his part in the incident but took no action against the Sevco skipper.

It has now been widely reported that Tony McGlennan, the SFA Compliance Officer, is ready to offer Alves a two match ban for his involvement.

That will present Sevco with a problem with fellow defender Fabio Cardoso ruled out of the matches against Kilmarnock and Hearts.

If Alves accepts the ban he’ll miss the Kilmarnock match and the first Betfred Cup tie of next season. If he appeals he’ll be available to play against Kilmarnock but would then miss out on Saturday’s trip to Murrayfield if his appeal is unsuccessful.

There is no suggestion that any action will be taken against Ryan Bowman who elbowed Cardoso on the nose leaving the striker free to face Celtic in next month’s final.
