Bruno Alves fancies a go at the Champions League.

The Sevco defender arrived too late to help Sevco in this season’s Europa League run which was ended at the first round by Progres Niederkorn.

Sevco are already trailing Celtic and Aberdeen by six points and have still to travel to Pittodrie, Celtic Park, Easter Road or Ttynecastle.

In the highly unlikely event that they win the league, and obtain another UEFA licence from the SFA, Alves can look forward to four qualifying ties against seeded opponents.

Despite that daunting prospect Alves is reaching for the stars next season and the chance to come face-to-face with his international colleague Cristin Ronaldo.

Something I believed when I came here was that I could bring something more to the club,” the defender told The Sun before today’s Hampden clash with Motherwell.

This something more is winning titles and bringing Rangers back to competitions like the Champions League.”

Since being granted SFA membership in 2012 Sevco have only ever won the Petrofac Cup.

In their only national cup final appearance they lost 3-2 to Hibs in the 2016 Scottish Cup Final while last season they finished 39 points behind champions Celtic in third place.
