De Vries returns

Dorus de Vries is set to come in from the cold to play against Dundee this afternoon.

It’s over a year since the Dutchman last played a first team match with Craig Gordon returning to favour and earning a new contract after interest from Chelsea in January.

According to a report in The Sun de Vries will be back in goal today and joined by Cristian Gamboa at right back for his first appearance of the season.

With a League Cup semi-final against Hibs coming up it’s important that de Vries gets some match time with a goalkeeping red card always possible.

In 2011 Fraser Foster was sent off in the first half of a Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox with Craig Gordon red carded in the Scottish Cup semi-final against Inverness Caley Thistle four years later.

With Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong and Jozo Simunovic missing through injury Brendan Rodgers’ side will be very experimental today.
