Leigh Griffiths has joined the Louis Moult fan club.

The Motherwell striker scored both goals at Hampden on Sunday to dump Sevco out of the Betfred Cup to set up a final date with Celtic.

Aberdeen and Sevco were linked with moves for Moult in the summer but with Wrexham due a large slice of any transfer fee the Fir Park side decided that it was better to have an asset on the park than money in the bank.

Moult has averaged a goal every second game in the SPFL with Sunday’s double at Hampden taking his total for the season to 11 and leaving Pedro Caixinha red faced.

The 25-year-old is in for an anxious day as he waits to discover if the Compliance Officer is going to take any action over the events at Hampden.

In the closing minutes Moult was involved in a clash with Bruno Alves that saw the players exchange kicks while lying on the ground. Moult was booked but no action was taken against Alves.
