Ally McCoist has admitted that none of his Rangers or Sevco players were any good.

The former Ibrox boss was on TalkSPORT this morning when he made the claim that is bound to upset stars such as Lee Wallace, David Templeton, Steve Davis, Allan McGregor, Steven Naismith and Lee McCulloch.

McCoist was at his fun loving best when he joined Max Rushden for the breakfast show as the issue of disciplining players was discussed.

The former Ibrox favourite missed a curfew or two during his playing days with Graeme Souness furious when McCoist went to Cheltenham in-between back to back defeats from Celtic.

Asked if he had ever received phone calls saying one of his players was in bother, McCoist said: “On a regular basis but I had a great degree of sympathy for previous managers who probably had the same phone calls about me.

It comes all the way round but I always say, there’s no point in worrying about things you can’t have an affect on.”

When Rushden pushed McCoist if there were any players who gave him sleepless nights, he joked: “Unfortunately during my managerial career, I didn’t have any players that were any good!”

As manager of Rangers (IL) McCoist failed to reach a cup final, finished second to Celtic in the SPL and got knocked out of the Champions League and Europa League at the first stage.

Although Sevco won two lower league titles they lost out to Queen of the South, Raith Rovers and Alloa in the Challenge Cup before McCoist took up a years gardening leave.
