Kilmarnock have parted company with Lee McCulloch.

The former Sevco favourite took charge of the club during the summer but has been binned after eight matches without a win in the Premiership.

McCulloch replaced Lee Clark on a caretaker basis in February when the former Newcastle midfielder left for Burnley.

Yesterday’s 2-0 defeat at home to Ross County was the final straw for the Rugby Park board with the club winless at the bottom of the table and barely able to attract 3,000 fans to home matches.

Kris Boyd is likely to be one of the favourites to step in as caretaker manager but that would require him to cut down on his various media commitments.

The return of Kenny Shiels is likely to be another option for the club to look at after the Irishman helped them win the 2012 League Cup before being axed a season later.

McCulloch is expected to take up media work, joining Alex Rae, Derek Ferguson, Barry Ferguson, Craig Paterson and Steven Thompson working for BBC Scotland.
