Kenny McLean has informed Aberdeen that he won’t be renewing his Pittodrie contact.

The midfielder’s deal runs until the end of the current season but despite recent speculation over a new contract McInnes has admitted that talks have ended.

The loss of McLean will be a big blow for Aberdeen who lost Jonny Hayes and Niall McGinn at the end of last season.

Aberdeen paid St Mirren £300,000 for the midfielder in February 2015 with the 25-year-old going on to make over 100 appearances for the Pittodrie side.

McInnes won’t be dropping McLean but with Ryan Christie returning to Celtic at the end of this season the Aberdeen boss is looking at a major rebuilding job for next season.

After a 10 day break Aberdeen host Celtic on Wednesday night with the hoops having played Bayern Munich and Hibs since the Dons won 1-0 away to Hibs on October 14.
