Thiago has warned his Bayern Munich team mates not to take Celtic lightly.
Brendan Rodgers success in Glasgow has created a jealous reaction in England where it is trendy to run down Celtic’s achievements with the thought of someone developing their career after leaving the EPL too uncomfortable to contemplate.
Like his stats against Jurgen Klopp Rodgers can hold his head up in the Champions League with three points from two matches while Liverpool toil in what is hardly a Group of Death.
With five English clubs involved in the Champions League this week’s clash with Bayern sees Celtic in the front line with Thiago in no doubt about the quality of Wednesday’s opponents.
“I expect a tough game against Celtic,” he told The Scotsman. “They are a good team and it will be like a game against an English team. For me, playing Celtic is like playing against the teams from the Premier League. They are always great games and Celtic will be difficult opponents.
“Of course, I know all about Brendan Rodgers. He did a great job at Liverpool. We have to win three points against Celtic to get as far away from third place as possible. At the same time, we have to hope that PSG lose to Anderlecht.”
After losing 3-0 to Paris Saint Germain and dismissing Carlo Ancelotti Bayern looked more like their old selves in the 5-0 win over Freiburg on Saturday.
The loss of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer however is a big blow and one that Celtic will be eager to exploit although a club that beat Arsenal 10-2 earlier this year clearly have limited weaknesses.
