It might come as a surprise to Stephen Craigan but no one at Celtic will ever look for or expect sympathy from within Scottish football.

The Motherwell u-20 coach tried to backtrack on his ‘no sympathy’ tweet but social media has a habit of exposing people’s true feelings.

It’s not clear when Craigan became a spokesman for Scottish football but it’s not hard to imagine his feelings as he watched Celtic getting defeated.

Celtic players and fans know that the team didn’t get close to it’s Anderlecht form when they took on Bayern, there are various reasons for that with the German side and their stadium something pretty special.

As a football ground the Allianz Arena puts the Nou Camp in it’s shade, three tiers of continuous seating topped by a layer of top of the range corporate facilities.

Having overcome the honest mistakes of the SPL and SFA over a decade of cheating at Ibrox Celtic require no sympathy. We arrived in Munich the hard way.

When Peter Lawwell published correspondence showing up the SFA not one club in Scotland raised a voice of support. The other SPFL members looked the other way while banking their £360,000 payment from UEFA courtesy of Celtic.

With PSG and Bayern still to be faced over the next month there may be other opportunities for Craigan and friends to hide behind ‘no sympathy’ tweets.

Celtic don’t require sympathy, never have and will be in the Europa League in February whatever is being tweeted after the matches against Bayern and PSG.
