Kieran Tierney has revealed that captaining Celtic is the biggest honour that he has ever received.

The 20-year-old signed a new six year contract yesterday and seems as delighted by the deal as the ecstatic hoops support.

Tierney was given the armband during one of the pre-season friendlies and has captained the team this season in the Betfred Cup against Kilmarnock and in the Premiership win over Dundee.

Despite his success and being watched by the biggest clubs in England all of his ambitions revolve around wearing a green and white jersey.

To captain Celtic is probably the greatest honour I’ve ever had,” he told Celtic TV.

To walk out and give the team talk in the Huddle is unbelievable. For the gaffer to have trust in someone so young is fantastic for me.

The manager has trusted me since day one. I was very young when he came in and I’d only played one season in the first team.”

KT will forget about his new deal when he lines up against Bayern Munich looking to keep Celtic’s Champions League hopes alive.

A win for Bayern would put them six points ahead if the hoops with two matches left to play and in front in the head-to-heads.

Tonight’s match will be his 23rd in European competition with his 100th Celtic appearance expected later this month.
