Alfie Morelos has warned Celtic that the ‘great institution’ that is Sevco will beat the hoops this season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side are unbeaten in 15 months of domestic competition and won 2-0 at Ibrox in September in a warm up for the Champions League tie against Anderlecht.

Rather than show a little humility and realism it seems that each passing defeat seems to inspire greater delusions inside Ibrox.

Six Premiership goals since joining Sevco from HJK Helsinki has catapulted Morelos into the category of average which is good enough to allow him to bang the drum and warn Celtic ahead of the December 30 meeting of the clubs.

It’s one of the biggest derbies in the world, a very impressive atmosphere and very nice for me as a footballer – it was something incredible,” he reflected in the Daily Record about his September defeat.

“It is a game worth winning. We didn’t manage to get a favourable result this time, but there are at least three more games against Celtic this season. I know we will go and get a good, positive result for Rangers.

“Being in this great institution, with its tremendous history is something that is very important for my career.”

After missing out on an international call up for Columbia Morelos will be back in action away to St Johnstone with both teams sitting six points behind Celtic and Aberdeen.

Following his scoring burst the 21-year-old has been linked with a move to England but any transfer would require a work permit with higher criteria applied by the English authorities to non-internationalists.
