Bruno Alves has had his appeal against a two match ban rejected by the SFA.

The veteran defender kicked out at Louis Moult during Sunday’s Betfred Cup semi-final defeat from Motherwell but escaped punishment from Steven McLean.

On Tuesday the SFA Compliance Officer issued a two match suspension which triggered a furious statement claiming that agendas were at work.

Sevco appealed against the ban which allowed Alves to play in last night’s 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

With his appeal rejected he will now miss Saturday’s match away to Hearts and the first Betfred Cup tie of next season.

Sevco are already without Fabio Cardoso for the game against Hearts which means that whoever is in charge is likely to play Young McCrorie with Danny Wilson.

Last night’s draw with Kilmarbock saw Sevco slip to fourth place in the SPFL with three clubs behind all within three points of the best squad in Scotland.
